Stefan’s Diaries will be TV based, NOT LJS based

From HarperTeen: STEFAN’S DIARIES are an exciting new project based on the VAMPIRE DIARIES novels written by LJ Smith and the TV series developed by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec. The prequel story is based on the lore from the show, taking place during the Civil War.
Emphasis on “based on lore from the show”. L.J. Smith, apparently, is NOT involved with Stefan’s Diaries, so the “new Vampire Diaries books” she mentioned must be something different entirely.
Anyone else wishing for a return to the quiet, boring days of fandom where the most exciting thing was the prospect of another round of LJSanta stories?
