LJS Books

The Night of the Solstice (and, to a lesser extent, the even lesser known Heart of Valor) always makes me feel bittersweet. On one hand, NotS and HoV are good books and they deserve to be read, so having reprints is ultimately a good thing. On the other, those two books were a great way of gauging fan interest: if someone claimed to be the world’s biggest LJS fan but hadn’t even heard of NotS and HoV, you knew they weren’t worth your time, because a “biggest” fan would try to ferret out every published word of their favourite author.

And on another hand (let’s pretend I’m an alien and have three hands), for a collector, NotS and HoV were godsends. Before the last round of reprints, they were only available in North America and the UK (possibly Australia and NZ as well), so it was really easy to have a complete set. But now Italy (oh, crazy, crazy Italy) is publishing NotS, so my dream of having even one complete series is dashed. I am woe.
